Haul Sunan Ampel

A sequence of festive and religious events in Sunan Ampel Mosque complex is made to commemorate the passing of Sunan Ampel. Starting on the third week on the month Sya'ban in the Islamic calendar, the Moslems are drawn to become parts of this important event for three days. It begins with some prayers on Friday, a procession on Saturday, and ends with a mass circumcision and some harmony of Islamic music on Saturday.

Ludruk Festival

Ludruk, a traditional musical comedy play, is one of Surabaya's precious treasure which should be continuously supported and preserved. Surabaya Cultural and Tourism Office has continuously supported it by organizing an annual Ludruk competition participated by performers from various ateliers and art school. They will show their best performance to be able to go to a higher competition in the provincial stage.

Reog Festival

This is the place where dancers from many ateliers perform their best act of Reog, a traditional dance of Ponorogo. Not only their beautiful improvisation that matters, but also the originality of the dance.
